Warrant, a graded stakes-winning millionaire, arrived at Blackstone Farm in Pine Grove, PA to stand his first season at stud in 2024. The flashy, five year-old chestnut retired this September after finishing second in the Governor’s Cup Stakes at Remington Park this August. He retired from racing with five wins, six seconds, and four thirds from nineteen career starts and earnings of $1,102,833. Racing from 2021 until 2023, he won at tracks across the country at distances from six furlongs to one and a half miles. Highlights of his career in 2021 include victories in the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park and the Texas Derby (LS) at Lone Star Park. In 2022, he finished second in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap at Santa Anita and second in the Grade 2 Brooklyn Stakes at Belmont Park. Trained by Brad Cox, the country’s leading trainer by earnings in 2023, Warrant won this year’s Isaac Murphy Marathon Overnight Stakes (LS) at Churchill Downs going one and a half miles. He ended his career with a second in the Governor’s Cup Stakes.

Bred by Twin Creeks Farm, Warrant is by the hot sire Costitution out of Whisper Number by First Samurai. Standing at WinStar Farm in Kentucky for a fee of $110,000 Stands & Nurses, Constitution is a leading sire of 2 year-olds this year. He sired multiple graded stakes winners on the dirt and turf including Tiz The Law, Americanrevolution, and We the People. Called the “Foundation For The Future” by WinStar, Constitution’s offspring brought six and seven figures at this year’s yearling and two-year old sales. Warrant’s dam, Whisper Number is the dam of four winners including the Grade 2 winner, Ms Locust Point. Ms Locust Point was trained by Parx based trainer John Servis, and she earned $675,975 at multiple tracks including   Parx, Penn National, Laurel, Gulfstream Park, and Delaware Park.

Standing for a fee of $4,000, Warrant is settling in to his new home at one of Pennsylvania’s top-ranking breeding farms, Blackstone Farm in Pine Grove, PA. “We are excited to bring this talented horse to Pennsylvania. We were looking for an unproven stallion that would fit with Pennsylvania breeders, and Warrant checks all the boxes,” said Christian Black, partner at Blackstone. “He’s correct, he retired sound, and he won over $1 million dollars.”

“We’re selling shares in Warrant too. He was owned and raced by Twin Creek Racing, and they retained a portion of him. We have fifty mares to him next year already, and we are going to support him with our mares too,” explained Black. “He’s a good fit for everyone, and there are plenty of good options for breeding to him. He’s easy to match with several bloodlines like Unbridled Song, Uncle Mo, Tiznow, and More Than Ready lines.”  A well-proportioned and good-boned horse, Warrant has a great disposition yet a tough, competitive spirit. “Warrant is a good size, and he’s athletic and sturdy, and he has a beautiful big hip and a good walk. At $4,000, he’s a great value because most of the other Constitution stallions are more money. We think he has a bright future ahead of him,” said Black.

Warrant joins three other stallions at Blackstone Farm for the 2024 breeding season including top PA sire Uptowncharleybrown, Eastwood, and Peace and Justice. “Eastwood is by the champion Speightstown who just died in December. Eastwood has 17% winners from 83 starts, and he only has seventeen foals so far,” said Black. Peace and Justice, by War Front, is the sire of Capo, the recent two-year old winner of the Nursery Stakes at Parx Racing. He is also nominated to the December 27th $200,000 Wait For It Stakes at Parx Racing. The race is for PA sired PA breds, and is part of the PA sire series. “Uptowncharleybrown is fourth on this year’s leading PA sire list, and his lifetime progeny earnings exceed eight million dollars,” said Black. “Several two-year olds by Uptowncharleybrown are also nominated to the Wait For It Stakes including the stakes placed Addyson’s Dream.”

According to Black, “Warrant is a great addition to our stallion roster. He was a very talented race horse and had speed that could hold two turns. He has everything the Pennsylvania breeder could want. We are having private showings, so people can contact me at Blackstone Farm to see him.”
