Frankie’s Empire and Malibu Star join the stallion roster at WynOaks Farm for 2026. Graded stakes placed Frankie’s Empire, by Classic Empire, out of stakes placed Donna D by Dixie Union, enters stud in 2026. He was undefeated in five dirt sprints and won the Swale Stakes and ran third in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park in 2024. At age two, he won first time out at Monmouth Park and was third in the Sapling Stakes at Monmouth. He retired with five wins in twelve starts and earned $300,900.
“We’re bringing much needed new pedigrees into the state,” said Barbara Wheeler, owner of WynOaks Farm. “Pennsylvania has a great breeder’s program, and we want to attract new owners and breeders who want to race in Pennsylvania. Both new horses have beautiful pedigrees with strong dams,” said Wheeler.
Malibu Star, by Giant’s Causeway out of stakes placed Unbound, by Distorted Humor, sold for $450,000 at the 2018 Keeneland yearling sale. “The buyers saw potential in him,” said Wheeler. He was in the money in half his starts and had ten wins,” Wheeler said. He retired after forty-five starts, ten wins, nine seconds, three thirds, and earnings of $377,219.
Current stallions at WynOaks include top Pennsylvania sire, Weigelia, Pennsylvania sprint champion, Beren, and stakes placed Command Post. Still going strong at age twenty-five, millionaire Weigelia ranks third on the PA sire list for 2025. Multiple graded stakes winner Weigelia won eight stakes and retired with earnings of $1,007,708. He set two new course records – six furlongs in 1:07 at Belmont Park and five furlongs in .55 at Monmouth Park. “We have continued interest in Weigelia. He’s the sire of many stakes winners including Beren and millionaire Smooth B, and his horses are long running. As long as he’s still interested and fertile, we’ll still breed him to a few mares,” said Wheeler. For the last ten years, Weigelia ranked in the top five on the Pennsylvania sire list. He was number one in 2022 and second in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023. This January, he had two winners at Parx, Quasi Warrior and Sam’s After Party.

One of Weigelia’s top earners, graded stakes placed Beren, out of multiple Grade 3 stakes winner and millionaire Silmaril, entered stud in 2025. He raced five seasons and retired sound with twelve wins in thirty-five starts and earned $949,890. Based at Parx, he won at tracks in the mid-Atlantic, including Parx, Laurel, Penn National, and Belmont, and was the PA male champion three-year and champion male sprinter of 2021. “We signed several new stallion contracts for Beren at the stallion show,” Wheeler said. “We have continued interest in him. He turned heads at the stallion show. He’s a beautiful horse. We offer different pedigrees for people to consider, and people showed interest in the new stallions at our stallion show even though we had challenging weather,” said Wheeler.
“Our stallion, Command Post, is by Harlan’s Holiday out of Danzig’s Humor by Lemon Drop Kid. He’s stakes placed and had three wins out of only seven starts, and he has a beautiful pedigree,” Wheeler said. “We try to offer a variety of pedigrees to keep people interested in racing in Pennsylvania. We are here to help breeders and owners in any way we can. We offer boarding, breeding, foaling, sales, and lay-ups. Our farm in Maryland is just six miles from the breeding farm, and we board our lay-ups there. We are a full-service farm. We feed top-quality hay and grain, and we have a dedicated, caring, and experienced staff.”
