Parx Racing announced Nov. 24 that it will close out the year with a pair of cards featuring five $100,000 stakes races over the final two days of its 2021 racing season, Dec. 28-29. The added year-end stakes races will offer a final opportunity for a season-ending black-type victory.
Dec. 28 will have three stakes races on the card—the $100,000 Kris Kringle Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at a mile and seventy yards, the $100,000 Mrs. Claus Stakes for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up at seven furlongs, and the $100,000 Blitzen Stakes for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs. Nominations close Dec. 8.
Juveniles will take the spotlight Dec. 29 with a pair of stakes races for 2-year-olds—the $100,000 Parx Futurity at seven furlongs for fillies and the seven-furlong $100,000 Parx Juvenile for colts and geldings. Nominations for those two races also close Dec. 8.
Parx also has a number of lucrative starter allowances in its final condition book of 2021. Two $50,000 starter allowances for horses that have started for a claiming price of $5,000 or less in 2021 and which have not won a race this year are slotted Dec. 22. These are followed Dec. 27 by four $65,000 starter allowances for horses that have run for a claiming price of $10,000 or less in 2020-21.
