It’s a boy! American Pharoah’s colt surprised us all by arriving early. The yet-to-be-named foal and his mother, High Quail, are receiving some tender loving care at a nearby equine clinic due to his early arrival. Attached is a photo of the new colt, who weighed in at a healthy 140 pounds.

“As any parent will tell you, births rarely happen according to plan, and this one was no exception,” said Walnut Green  owner Mark Reid. “But we’re happy that the colt has arrived and are looking forward to tracking his progress to see if he can follow in his legendary father’s footsteps.” The Walnut Green Farm live webcam at PennHorseRacing.com is still active and will remain active for the foreseeable future. There are many other horses at Walnut Green Farm — some of which are expecting foals of their own — and fans can follow those horses and their journeys to parenthood.
