Evan Pattak and Pohla Smith, a prominent husband-and-wife team in Pennsylvania’s harness racing communications, have been selected to receive the prestigious Mary Lib Miller Award from the Keystone Chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA). Additionally, T C I is being honored as the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Horse of the Year, Todd Schadel as the Pennsylvania Trainer/Driver of the Year, Greg Wasiluk with the Unsung Hero Award, George Napolitano Jr. with the Special Achievement Award, and the Rocky Top Stable with the Small Stable of the Year Award. Pattak and Smith, both former horseowners, leveraged their understanding and journalistic talent to receive recognition for their writing. T C I, trained by Ron Burke, accomplished a historic feat by winning both divisional Sire Stakes Championship events at two and three years old. Todd Schadel excelled on the Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes circuit, while Greg Wasiluk showcased dedication through his long-standing involvement in harness racing. George Napolitano Jr. achieved remarkable success in driving and training, and the Rocky Top Stable, led by Tom Loughry Jr., made significant strides in 2024. The award winners will be honored in trackside ceremonies during the Pennsylvania racing seasons.
