We recently stopped by to visit our Pennsylvania-bred American Pharoah foal at Walnut Green in Kennett Square, PA!
Just shy of eight months old, the colt is continuing to grow and develop into a fine, young horse. He carries himself with the knowledge that he is special. He’s been described as having a great mind, as well as very promising and correct when it comes to confirmation. He has shed his baby coat and has since turned into a beautiful dark bay with a small splash of white on his forehead, as well as a white sock on his left hind leg.
While originally entered in Book 2 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, the Walnut Green and Smart Angle LLP team decided to scratch the colt from the upcoming sale. The team decided to hold on to the PA Bred Prince for the time being, believing he will be a much better sale prospect next year as a yearling. On average, American Pharoah’s weanlings sold for $225,000. For comparison, his yearlings averaged $430,000.
We can’t wait to continue to watch him grow and we look forward to seeing where he ends up next year! Starting next year, PHRA will begin to live stream the Walnut Green yearling paddock, so fans will have the opportunity to watch the Prince on a daily basis.
