Millionaire and Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner, Nobals heads to Presque Isle Downs for the Karl Boyes Stakes on July 4th. The $100,000 stake going six furlongs for three year olds and up drew eight entries. Early favorites include Nobals at 9/5, Busk 7/2, My Buddy B at 9/2, and Going Up at 6/1. Post time is 12:30 P.M. for the July 4th program.

Nobals, trained by Larry Rivelli, started his career with a win first time out at Presque Isle Downs in 2021. He went on to win his second start at Horseshoe Indianapolis in the Arlington-Washington Futurity, and he holds the track record at Woodbine for six furlongs on the all weather track in 1:07.63 set on May 1, 2022. A multiple graded stakes winner, he won the Grade 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes at Churchill Downs in 2023 and the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita in 2023.
Busk, by Candy Ride, won six races this year, five in a row with two wins at Churchill Downs, one win at Keeneland, and one win at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Another contender, graded stakes placed My Buddy B won nine races and $284,309. He won the State Representative’s Sprint Stakes at Parx in 2024, and he was second in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler Stakes at Belmont At The Big A.
Trainer Joe Orseno entered a pair of four year olds in the Karl Boyes Stakes. Horsepower won two races this year and placed in the Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay, and Mattingly won the Hollywood Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park and earned $319,763 in fifteen starts with three wins, 4 seconds, and five thirds
Pennsylvania bred, Going Up, at 6/1, won eight races and is a stakes placed winner. Post time for the Karl Boyes Stakes is 3:50 P.M.
On Monday July 7th, The Malvern Rose Stakes for registered Pennsylvania bred 3 year old fillies going six and a half furlongs drew a field of eight. Favorites for the race include trainer Kate DeMasi’s Honorable Win, stakes placed Double Airo, graded stakes placed Icona Mama, and Woodbine based Our Lady.
Honorable Win’s impressive record includes two wins and one second in three starts. All three races were stakes, and she won The Miss Blue Tye Dye Stakes and The Miss Behaviour Stakes both at Parx. The Malvern Rose will be her first race in 2025.
Double Airo is stakes placed and was third to Honorable Win in The Miss Behavior Stakes at Parx last year. She has nine starts with three wins, two seconds, and one third, and earnings of $108,040.
Graded stakes placed Icona Mama, trained by Flint Stites, won last year’s Shamrock Rose Stakes at Penn National and was second in the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga. She was third last year in the Grade 3 Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs and is 5/2 in the early odds.

Lightly raced, but with a perfect record, Our Lady is two for two, both on the all weather surface at Woodbine. She won impressively in her debut at Woodbine and led the way in her second race to win by four and a quarter lengths in an allowance optional claiming race at Woodbine. Trained by Steve Chircop, Our Lady, by Bolt d’ Oro out of Summer’s Ready by More Than Ready, earned $65,638 and is 9/5. According to Eddie Coletti Jr., “Up N Runnin is not running. We are not going to make the trip this time.” Post time for The Malvern Rose is 6:12 P.M.
